Specifications include, but are not limited to: It is the intent of this Invitation for Bid to secure a contractor to provide and install an automated microscopic sperm detection systemfor use in a forensic casework laboratory located at the Institute of Forensic Science Building, 2355 N. Stemmons Freeway, 2nd floor,Dallas Texas 75207. The automated microscope system is to be used for the detection and identification of spermatozoa in forensicsexual assault evidence.The objective is to describe the complete work to be performed under such contract. It is also the intent that the respectiveContractor(s) shall furnish all materials, supplies, tools, equipment, machinery, labor and supervision necessary for the installation andcompletion of the work in full compliance with the proposal specifications.Specifications1) The system must be a turnkey system consisting of all microscopic equipment, computer hardware, and computer softwareneeded of the screening of standard forensic smears for the presence of spermatozoa.a) The computer system must utilize the Microsoft Windows XP operating systemb) The computer system must include a network card for connection of the system to the Dallas County computer network.2) The system must detect spermatozoa in smears stained with Kernechtrot-Picroindigocarmine Stain (Christmas Tree Stain).a) The system must be able to detect spermatozoa in standard forensic smears prepared from vaginal, oral and anal swabscollected from sexual assault victims during forensic medical examinations.i)These smears may contain high background levels of epithelial cells, bacteria and yeast as well as other mixed debris.The system must be able to reliably identify spermatozoa in such samples
