Specifications include, but are not limited to: 3.1.1. Complementary Metal Oxide Semi-Conductor (CMOS) integrated circuitry. 3.1.2. All electronic components and wiring shall operate within a temperature range of -40 to 160° F (-40 to 71° C). 3.1.3. The circuitry shall be mounted on glass epoxy circuit boards and be coated with a protective finish to minimize oxidation and protect from moisture. The units shall facilitate the easy removal of the circuit boards and have plug mounted cable connections. Push-in or crimped connectors are not acceptable unless soldered. All electronic components shall be of solidstate design with a high degree of immunity from ambient electronics noise and radio frequency interference and have low power consumption. All components shall be mounted so that they will not be damaged by jolts, shocks, vibrations, and impacts encountered in transportation and use. 3.1.4. Powered unit shall not weigh more than 8 lbs. (3.63 kg) if stackable; powered unit shall not weigh more than 1 lb. (454 g) if not stackable. 3.1.5. Impact, corrosion, and weather resistant enclosure with all connectors for all external sensor inputs shall be accessible from the outside of the unit. All connectors shall be ruggedized and the unit sealed for moisture resistance. All externally mounted connectors shall have a weatherproof cap, and shall be mounted with water resistant gaskets. 3.1.6. The housing shall be equipped with a carrying handle if the unit weighs more than 3 lbs. (1.36 kg). 3.1.7. Unit shall be designed to restrict operation or removal by unauthorized persons. Securing features shall be of sturdy metal and shall accommodate a ¼ in. (6.5 mm) diameter, lock shank, or electronic lock. 3.1.8. Each unit shall have a unique serial number and QR code which shall be stamped or engraved on a metal or metalized Mylar plate, epoxied or riveted with aluminum rivets, directly on unit exterior housing where it can be viewed without significant disassembly of the unit. The last four digits of the serial number must be Arabic numerals. The digits shall be at least 0.2 in. in height. No units in a lot shall repeat any four digit sequence of serial numbers. The serial number, or at least the last four digits thereof, must also be programmed into the unit’s settings to convey unique number in heading of product data file (see attachment C). 3.1.9. Each unit shall have printed on one side of the unit, the TxDOT logo and “TPP-TFO (512) 486-5003”. 3.1.10. Units heavier than 3 lbs. (1.36 kg) shall have a heavy-duty housing designed for the purpose of safe and orderly vertical stacking of up to nine units without compromising the viability of any unit therein. Stacked units must be able to withstand shocks experienced during transport in the bed of a pickup truck.
