Integral Care provides community-based behavioral health and intellectual/developmental disabilities services in Travis County, Texas. Integral Care began providing services in 1967. Integral Care is a community center under Chapter 534 of the Texas Health and Safety Code, and is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Integral Care is an agency of the State, a unit of local government and is governed by a ten-member Board of Trustees (“Board”), nine of whom are appointed to two-year staggered terms by the City Council of the City of Austin, the Travis County Commissioners Court, and the Board of Managers of the Travis County Healthcare District dba Central Health. The Travis County Sheriff serves as a statutorily appointed ex-officio member of the Board. Integral Care currently employs approximately 1,042 full-time, part-time and relief employees, and operates approximately 38 business locations of varying types (e.g., office, residential) throughout the Austin/Travis County area.
