Specifications include, but are not limited to: The purpose of this RFP is to provide the district with nurses that will provide one-on-one nursing services for students with complex medical needs. Services will be utilized upon the recommendation of the admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee in accordance with the individualized education program (IEP) or Section 504 committee in accordance with the accommodation plan and the medical provider's plan of care. The contractor or contracted nurse will: 1. Submit resumes that indicate experience working with children, adolescents and families in a community, school or home health setting. 2. Adhere to the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Standards of Nursing Practice and district policy and procedures. 3. Complete district orientation through the department of Health Services. 4. Wear picture identification with RN or LVN visible at all times. 5.At the discretion of the principal or designee, the contracted nurse(s) will report to the campus nurse each morning in compliance with established arrival and departure times. 6. Accompany the student at all times and follow classroom rules established by the classroom teacher (e.g., cell phones, texting, or other leisure activities). 7. Notify in advance, the contractor(s) (to initiate sending backup nurse), parent, campus nurse or health services if no campus nurse and the campus principal of expected absence. 8. Backup contract nurse reports to the school with the student and contacts principal and campus nurse upon arrival. 9. Report to the principal or designee and the campus nurse if becomes ill during the school day. 10. Ensure the campus nurse has a copy of the current plan of care and supporting documentation, including signed physician orders and parent authorization; provide updates as indicated. 11. Be thoroughly familiar with student's plan of care including but not limited to administration of medications, toileting, performing treatments or procedures, and transporting the student to and from class, cafeteria or field trips if the student is attending.
