University Health will award a three (3) year contract with two one (1) year renewal options to multiple Contractors who will be responsible to provide services under the General Inpatient (GIP) program. University Health introduced General Inpatient (GIP) Hospice services at University Hospital in July 2015. Since that time, these contracts have provided the necessary continuum of care for our patients that need to transition to such level of hospice care. The goal of hospice is to ensure that patients receive patient-centric care in a comfortable environment with an acceptable pain level, allowing them to spend their final days with quality support, in a dignified manner. Additionally, hospice services offer supportive care to family members during this time. The Hospice team includes the nurse, hospice nurse aide, social worker, chaplain and medical director.
