Specifications include, but are not limited to: The required services to be provided are an online infection control certification course and online certification exam. Under direction from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the Healthcare Safety Unit (HSU) seeks a Contractor(s) in healthcare infection prevention and control to provide an online certification course and certification exam to staff members currently employed at Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and Long‐Term Care Facilities (LTCFs). The HSU delivers Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) to SNFs and LTCFs across the state of Texas. ICARs are used primarily to evaluate a facility’s infection prevention and control (IPC) measures and provide feedback for improvement activities to decrease risk of infections. The ICARs are administered by DSHS IPC staff. The internal team within HSU, Nursing Home Strike Team (NHST), consists of 20 IPC staff members. The IPC staff represent the 11 HHS Regions throughout Texas. The team is managed by the DSHS Central Office as well as an appointed manager, the NHST Coordinator.
