SCOPE OF WORK SUMMARY: 1. REMOVE EXISTING CEDAR SHAKE ROOF, FLASHING, ETC. DOWN TO LATH BOARDS. DISPOSE OF MATERIALS LEGALLY, OFFSITE. 2. REPLACE DAMAGED LATH BOARDS TO MATCH EXISTING TO INCLUDE LIVE EDGE (IF FOUND). 3. INSTALL NEW SHAKES, FLASHING, AND ACCESSORIES. The following General Notes apply in all cases to the General Conditions encountered and provide a reference for the Contractor to the scope of work, intent and the required standards. PART 1 - GENERAL NOTES 1.1 All work must comply with all applicable local, state and federal ordinances, codes and standards. A. Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as a Registered Texas Historic Landmark. B. Work must comply with the Secretary of Interior’s “Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. C. Work must comply with the most current publication by the Cedar Shake & Shingle Bureau (CSSB). Certain exceptions are made to accommodate the treatment of historic structures. The Contractor shall notify the Owner and/or Architect if discrepancies exist. 1.2 A representative of Eisenhower Birthplace Historic Site will be designated for inspection of the Work. 1.3 State business hours will be observed by the Contractor unless alternative arrangements have been made with the site staff in advance. 1.4 The Contractor is to provide all materials, labor and equipment required to complete the Work as described in the construction documents. 1.5 Submit completed product information and shop drawings for all new building components for approval by Architect and/or Owner prior to commencing Work. 1.6 The Contractor may utilize site water and power supplies as needed for the Work at no cost to the Contractor. 1.7 The Contractor shall provide temporary, portable restroom facilities for employees. The Contractor and its employees may not use site facilities. 1.8 The Contractor is solely responsible for job safety and shall comply with all required safety standards and regulations that apply. Where required, erect barriers scaffolding and signs for the safe execution of the work and to maintain a clean, safe and secure job site. 1.9 Verify all dimensions and existing conditions by taking field measurements and observations. The dimensions shown on the drawings are intended to give general sizes, shapes, relationships and to show the extent of the Work. Inform the THC Project Architect should any discrepancies exist prior to proceeding with Work. 1.10 Do not calculate measurements by scaling the drawings. If additional information is needed, contact the THC Project Architect. 1.11 All work shall be plumb, square, level and true to line. PART 2 – SITE WORK 2.1 Protect all adjacent surfaces and objects from damage. Protect all existing trees and vegetation in work areas. 2.2 No equipment will be allowed off pavement when ground conditions are wet and soft in order avoid wheel tracking and rutting. Weather delay days will be granted when warranted. 2.3 Coordinate vehicular routes for all work and deliveries with the site manager to limit impact of the project on the overall site. Stage and store materials, and park vehicles as coordinated with the site manager. 2.4 Repair all construction damage in work area to documented preconstruction conditions. 2.5 Work areas are to remain clean and free from debris. Construction waste is to be collected at the end of each workday and properly disposed. END OF SECTION
