The existing PLCs used for monitoring and controlling the Burner Management and Combustion Control system is currently Rockwell Automation PLC-5. These PLC’s have been end of life and unsupported since 2010, leaving the Burner Management and Combustion Control system in a critical position with no replacement hardware available for purchase. As well the Redundant Hot Standby functionality is inoperable leaving the system in a state where no redundancy exists. Current communication between these PLC’s is Data Highway Plus a serial 485 protocol that has been unsupported for 14 years. While the existing control system is operational, the technology (hardware & software) of this system is considered outdated when compared to modern SCADA systems. TASKS Back up all running current PLC programs Restore Hot Standby functionality and test Backup RSview SCADA application Comment PLC programs with tags and descriptions Generate a hardware list for future PLC upgrade Quarterly maintenance checks On the job training 24/7 365 support by the selected vendor when called upon by GP&L staff for trouble shooting Allen Bradley CCS/BMS system to insure proper operations. SERVICES Locally connect to PLC’s and upload current running applications. This application will be stored onsite on an external storage media/NAS, engineer workstation. Download current running PLC application to standby processor, trouble shoot program sync issues and restore hot standby functionality and test. Backup current RSview SCADA application. This application will be stored onsite on an external storage media/NAS, engineer workstation. Compare current PLC I/O with drawings and actual field wiring. Comment and tag I/O in PLC programs. After I/O is tagged, we will start to reverse engineer the PLC programs adding comments and descriptions where possible. This will allow for future PLC upgrades to be accomplished in a timely manner along with trouble shooting of any future or existing problems in the system. Generate a hardware list needed for future PLC upgrade based on current PLC programs. Quarterly maintenance checks to ensure that Hot Standby operation is functional along with Data Highway + network integrity. Staff training on RSlogix 5 and RSview 32 application modifications and trouble shooting. On site or on phone support when needed by GP&L staff.
