The City’s goal is to procure the services and work product necessary to install a Remote Fire Department Connection (FDC) at the Hostess House. The project scope includes the installation, connection, and testing of the FDC, ensuring it meets fire codes and regulations, and providing a clear and accessible point for fire departments to connect their hoses to the building's fire protection systems. This scope also encompasses proper signage and marking of the FDC location. It is recommended that prior to bidding on the job that a site visit is conducted to understand location and project scope. Deliverables of the Proposal at minimum include: Design standards on installation of the remote FDC line which includes a 5-inch Storz connection allowing for a large diameter hose connection and any necessary piping or fittings. o Approximately 189 linear feet of 6” PVC Connection to buildings sprinkler system or standpipe system ensuring a reliable water supply when needed. o To the 5 ft subterranean FDC stub out (to stub out only) o Saw cut existing sidewalk/landing to access stub out o Repair existing sidewalk Fire Department Connection Bollards o Minimum 3 feet clearance to allow fire department vehicles and personnel to connect to FDC Testing to verify proper functionality, including water pressure and flow and valve operation. Compliance with code and standards as defined in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)13 and IFC 2021. Clear signage and markings must be installed to indicate the location and type of fire protection system the FDC serves (e.g., sprinkler, standpipe)
