Specifications include, but are not limited to: DSHS provides vital statistics, compiles and disseminates health data, administers chronic and infectious disease prevention, provides laboratory testing efforts, leads public health response to disasters, disease threats and outbreaks, and provides licenses and regulatory services. DSHS has identified the need for a comprehensive automated EOR System for the Laboratory. As such, the Scope of Work (SOW) outlines the EOR System requirements. Contractor subject matter expertise is required to configure and implement the EOR System. The Laboratory serves the State of Texas by performing a variety of analyses on approximately 1.5 million samples a year in support of public health, including Newborn Screening (NBS), Texas Health Steps (THSteps) Medicaid Program, Microbiological Services, Emergency Preparedness, and Environmental Chemistry. More than 8,000 entities submit these samples. These Submitters include: hospitals, clinics, doctors’ offices, state agencies, federal agencies, veterinarians, and citizens. This testing is supported by four (4) LIMS applications for tracking and testing samples and reporting results. The LIMS are LabWare (Microbiology and Emergency Preparedness), SpecimenGate (NBS), Orchard Enterprise Lab (THSteps), and LabWorks (Environmental Chemistry).
