HB 1416 and TEC 26.008 require LEAs to provide accelerated instruction to students who 1) fail STAAR 2) identified to be at risk for reading difficulties. In addition, WISD uses screeners to identify students needing supplemental instruction based on other data. This proactive approach will help increase student’s achievement and decrease drop-out rate. WISD is seeking a program that will complete a screener/diagnostic to identify students at risk, but also provide a comprehensive summary of strengths and weaknesses to help identify the skills and or TEKD that need to be targeted during accelerated instruction. In addition, provide teacher resources/lessons for direct teaching in small groups. Finally, an adaptive computer program that students can work on in computer/independent stations. All must be researched based and TEKS aligned.
