This initiative was strongly supported by the 2025 Bond Committee and formalized through voter approval of Proposition C in the City’s 2025 Bond Election, affirming public investment in arts infrastructure. Prior to the election, the City commissioned a Concept Study that explored renovation scenarios and urban integration strategies for the Granville Arts Center and its surrounding parcels. The study played a pivotal role in shaping the bond program and informing the scope of the current RFQ. The selected firm will be an integral part of this transformation, with responsibilities that include the redesign of existing theater spaces, alignment with surrounding development, integration of adjacent properties, and coordination of public input and City Council presentations. This project involves: • A highly active, multi-theater venue with highly specialized functional and technical requirements • Potential phased implementation and adaptability to future scope adjustments • Historical and structural sensitivity in renovation scope • Context-sensitive design that integrates with adjacent parcels and future build-out plans • Collaboration with multiple stakeholder groups including city staff, performing arts partners, and urban design planners • Strong civic visibility with public engagement and leadership accountability
