Specifications include, but are not limited to: The scope of services for mowing services includes the following: • Mowing of all lawn areas. • Mowing or weed trimming of parking lot islands. • Edging of all walks, drives, roads, plazas, and landscaped beds that are adjacent to lawn areas. • Blowing of grass clippings off all hardscape surfaces. • Measuring of current total groomed acreage needs. University may add groomed acreage during the Contract Term at the rates negotiated and incorporated into the contract, if any. • Mowing is to take place, at a minimum, 45 times per year. Contracted team over-seeds (ryegrass) in October which requires mowing throughout the winter months. • Mowing once per month of the area south of lot 8A (Along Cullen Blvd and MacGregor) • Provide University with a weekly mowing schedule. If the schedule is altered due to inclement weather, drought or ground conditions that will not support mowing machinery, Contractor will notify University that mowing will not be taking place at the scheduled time and will propose an adjusted schedule. • Working hours may begin as early as 6AM any may continue during daylight hours except as noted below in the section entitled “Areas of Exception: Hours of operation for providing the Services to areas designated as Student Housing.” • Lawn areas are to be free of trash and debris prior to mowing. Trash and debris include but are not limited to twigs, branches, rocks and all materials that are not turf. • Edge all trees with tree ring to create/maintain a defined shallow border around the base of trees. The tree ring should be built no less than three feet from the trunk and maintain the same soil grade. • All edges along hardscape elements (walks, curbs, roadways, plazas, etc.) are to be blade trimmed. String-type trimmers can be used around landscape elements such as poles, hydrants and landscape beds. Trimmers should not be used around the bases of trees and shrubs. • Grass clippings are to be left in place. If the first cut of mowing leaves excess clippings, clippings are to be gone over until they are evenly disbursed throughout the lawn. Push mowers must be used in areas where ride on mowers are not applicable. Horseshoe (or push-pull) rakes must be used in areas where string trimmers cannot be used in order to avoid breaking windows. • All parking lots, concrete cracks and seems must receive herbicide treatment and be trimmed with tools and/or pulled by hand as necessary • All hard surface areas are to be blown free of grass clippings once the cutting in an area is completed.
