The project scope is a renovation and expansion of the existing fire station. The total square footage is 7,157 sf (Existing 5,157 s.f. + 2,000 s.f. new additions). The key features follow: • The existing Apparatus Bay configuration remains: o Two drive-thru bays with access off of W Pecan Grove Rd o New overhead sectional doors at the front and back bay openings. o The bays shall be updated with new lighting, updated ceiling, new epoxy floors and painted masonry walls. • The existing “fire house” shall be modified. o The interior wall configuration will be modified to meet current department’s needs. Select walls to remain. o The reconfiguration includes revised plumbing locations. • New Addition o Building additions will include expansion of the “fire house” at three locations. The expansions will provide additional office conference areas, additional bunk rooms, and an expanded kitchen area. A new building addition will be located west of the Apparatus Bay which will provide areas for bunker gear storage and cleaning. • Site o The site configuration will include a staff parking expansion, a single story garage structure, and fuel station. The landscape will be modified to accommodate the new addition and parking areas. OPTION B; Option B is a renovation and expansion of the existing fire station. The total square footage is 14,471 sf (Existing 9,528 s.f. + 4,943 s.f. new addition). The key features follow: • New drive-thru Apparatus Bay addition: o Three drive through bays located north of the existing facility. Bays have entry access from Crockett St. and Existing access to West Travis. o Bay will include vehicle exhaust system and radiant heaters (gas) o Folding bay doors shall be utilized at West Travis Exit. o Pricing shall include options for folding bay doors along the west façade with cost reduction for overhead roll up doors. • The existing interior layout shall be modified. o All interior walls of the existing fire station shall be removed. o The new layout includes areas for office, conference, living, dining, kitchen, and dorm areas. A new lobby will include the area for the existing department’s Antique MAC engine. o A covered outdoor area is created utilizing a portion of the existing bay area. • Site o The site configuration for this option assumes entry access off W. Jones St. and Crockett Streets. Secure staff parking is located along the Crocket Street entry and north of the new bay addition. The remaining onsite parking would be unsecure for city use.
