Our goal is to develop a safe, stimulating, and nurturing playground environment tailored specifically for young children whose ages range from 6 weeks old to 6-year-old attending our childcare center. The design will incorporate age-appropriate play structures that promote physical development, creativity, and social skills while ensuring safety and accessibility for all children. By integrating natural elements, interactive features, and areas for both active and quiet play, we aim to create a versatile space where children can explore, learn, and grow together. Ultimately, our playground will serve as an essential extension of the daycare experience, fostering a love for outdoor play and supporting the holistic development of each child. SCOPE OF THE PROJECT Purpose: This project significantly impacts the level of care we would be offering children who attend our Childcare center. Parkland is seeking a Landscape Design-Build Contractor whose philosophy of design aligns with Parkland’s principals of ICARE (Integrity - Compassion and Collaboration – Accountability – Respect – Equity).. Ollowing are the current conditions of the Playground site that is identified in image above: Area of the playground site is approximately 2,623 sq.ft = 0.06 Acres Proposed playground site has grass cover on northwest portion with ornamental trees. Site also abuts a parking area intended for staff use. There are two (2) 1” water valves to regulate water flow in the playground site attached to two (2) 1” PVC private domestic water lines. The depth of the cover is 3’ below finished grade. The playground site is currently unfinished subgrade and will need to be filled-in according to the design proposed for the area. Project Requirements: A clear, written timeline for the design and construction phases. Site observation and recommendation for playground potential. Commitment to comply with all state, county and city ordinances and regulations. Playground design to meet the outdoor space design standards set forth in Chapter 746 – Minimum standards set for Childcare Centers by Child Care Regulations of Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Target age ranges are 6 weeks old to 6-year-old. Covered play area to be considered to reduce the exposure from Texas Heat. It is the intent of this project to terminate and abandon in a place the existing potable water to the play area.
