Specifications include, but are not limited to: Maintenance shall include the mowing, trim mowing, string line trimming and edging and blowing of all designated areas at each site. The cutting height needs to be at two (2) inches to three (3) inches with two (2) inches being preferred. At the Contractor’s discretion, periodic applications of Glyphosate herbicides such as Roundup may be applied to approved sites to reduce the amount of string line trimming (if the Contractor opts to perform this work, a Certified Applicator must be on the Contractor’s payroll. Clippings will not be collected or removed from the site. Clippings will not be blown onto the street, hard surface courts and trail systems. The Contractor will be responsible for removal of clippings or debris, if necessary. All litter shall be removed by the Contractor prior to mowing. The Contractor shall be responsible for repairing any ruts caused by mowing operations. No curb lines shall be mowed with a batwing mower. All curb lines, sidewalks/trails or other hard surface areas are to be edged during each maintenance cycle. Sidewalks and trails must be edged with walk behind steel blade edgers. No trim mowing is to be performed with Batwing mowers. Portable items such as litter receptacles, barricades, etc. shall be moved and mowed under. At the direction of the City Representative, the Contractor may be called upon to perform litter control maintenance on specified areas throughout the City during the 12-month contract. These litter control trips shall be utilized primarily during the off-season, or winter months of the contract. The Contractor shall quote this work at a cost per acre and the City Representative shall make every effort to guarantee a minimum of 20 acres to be litter controlled for any given callout for litter control. Large debris shall be removed by the City. The Contractor shall notify “City Representative” of such debris that prevents mowing operations. (Example: Couches, chairs, mattresses, etc.) Note: All litter shall be removed by the Contractor prior to mowing if shredding of the debris would be detrimental to the appearance of the area. No separate pay item is allowed for litter control.
