A. The Rapid DNA Instrument must employ a fully automated process for generating an STR DNA profile, from sample preparation through capillary electrophoresis and data analysis, in under two (2) hours. B. The Rapid DNA Instrument should be capable of processing various sample types, such as blood, saliva, tissue, and bone. C. The Rapid DNA Instrument must have dedicated human identification and forensic protocols that comply with FBI Quality Assurance Standards and have undergone developmental validation. D. The Rapid DNA Instrument should have sample and consumable tracking capabilities, as well as the ability to transfer data and reagents. E. The Rapid DNA Instrument analysis software should provide estimated DNA concentrations of input DNA in nanogram (ng) or picogram (pg) measuring units. F. The Rapid DNA Instrument must have a compact footprint suitable for a standard laboratory bench. G. The chemistry used within the Rapid DNA Instrument must have National DNA Index System (NDIS) approval or be in the process of obtaining it. H. The Rapid DNA Instrument must include data analysis software and must include at least one (1) license for the analysis software to be installed on a standalone desktop computer for reviewing instrument data. I. The Rapid DNA Instrument must allow export of raw DNA data for analysis in external DNA analysis software, such as Genemapper ID-X. J. Installation of the Rapid DNA Instrument, including the software, must be carried out by authorized personnel. K. Instrument must be able to communicate with all associated software, and the basic functionality of all components must be verified upon installation.
