The City desires to select a Design-Build (DB) Firm to design and construct a new Animal Adoption Center. The facility will serve as an extension of the existing animal shelter and is expected to meet the needs of our growing community while ensuring the health, safety, and comfort of the animals. The new center will include various specialized areas, including kennels, a cat room, grooming facilities, and an outdoor exercise area. The construction will require attention to detail, particularly in sanitation, air circulation, and animal welfare. The facility will include, but is not limited to, the following key components: 1. Kennel Areas ⎯ 20 prefabricated 4’x7’x8’H kennels* to be assembled and installed by contractor. The 20 kennels should be divided into two physically separated pods of 10 kennels each. ⎯ Each pod must have independent air circulation systems to prevent the spread of airborne diseases. The flooring should be sloped to allow easy cleaning of the entire pod at one time. ⎯ Each kennel shall be equipped with a finished trough drainage system for urine and fecal waste that tie into a City-provided septic system. ⎯ Each kennel must have access to both indoor and outdoor areas via guillotine-style doors. 2. Restroom Facilities ⎯ Separate one-seat male and female restrooms meeting all ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements. 3. Meeting Room ⎯ A meeting room where potential adopters can interact with animals in a comfortable environment. This room should be designed to facilitate acclimation between the adopter and a suitable animal candidate. ⎯ Minimum size: 8’ x 8’; 4. Cat Room ⎯ A dedicated room for cats, designed to keep them in a secure and comfortable environment. ⎯ Minimum size: 12’14’ ⎯ 9 prefabricated kennels* to be assembled and installed by contractor. ⎯ The room will include a small sink, storage area, and counter.
