The Fowler, Hughes and Schuhmacher Halls Plumbing Riser Replacement consists of replacing the plumbing stack and mechanical ductwork in twenty (total) CMU mechanical chases in Fowler (9), Hughes (6), and Schuhmacher (5) Hall's. The work will require CMU block wall demolition at restrooms, including the showers and the toilets adjacent to the chase of approximately 157 restrooms. Verification of the total number of restrooms affected and ADA updates required by the work will be performed by the Architect/Engineer during the design phase. Plumbing work will consist of removing and replacing the sanitary waste and vent piping system serving the lavatories in each dorm room, shower drains, floor drains and water closets from the main in the basement to the fourth floor in each chase. Water supply and return lines will be modified as necessary to connect to the new shower fixtures and water closets. Mechanical work will consist of removing and replacing the exhaust duct work system from the first floor to and including the exhaust fan on the roof. The new duct work will be a ceiling exhaust and include fire dampers. Architectural work will include building back 2-hour fire rated walls at the chase, showers with shower pans, wall surrounds, toilet accessories, floor drains, tile floors, walls, suspended sheetrock ceilings and timed radiant heat panels. Fire sprinkler piping will be modified as necessary to accommodate new mechanical, plumbing, and architectural layouts.
