Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Tennessee Department of Education released in 2017 the Response to Intervention Framework for Behavior (RTI-B). Similar to RTI for academics, RTI-B includes universal prevention efforts within Tier1 to promote a positive school-and class-wide climate. Through a focus on strong Tier 1 behavior supports, schools can create a culture where all students and teachers are respected and included in their community. In MNPS, there have been efforts to begin implementation with school around culture, climate and behavior supports to meet student need. Schools, who had opted in prior to the 2017 school year received training from the district. In Fall of 2017, MNPS determined it was necessary to begin implementing a multi-tiered system of support that incorporated academics, social-emotional and behavior (RTI-A and RTI-B).
