Existing reflectors shall be removed from their castings by a method approved by the manufacturer which will not damage the casting. Dirt, dust, oil, grease, rust, moisture or any foreign matter (including damaged reflectors or parts thereof) which will impair adhesion of the new reflector to the casting shall be removed from the casting by an abrasive method capable of exposing at least 90 percent bare metal in the recessed reflector attachment area.
