Specifications include, but are not limited to: Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) is soliciting proposals for a qualified and experienced Contractor for the provision of off-duty law enforcement officers, hereafter “Officers”, and armed and unarmed security guards, hereafter “Guards” for the purpose of; security and crowd management at athletic and other events, vehicle patrol and fixed post security assignments, and general security and order maintenance at administrative offices and at public meetings of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education. Athletic/Special Events Events will normally be of short duration (2-5 hours). Athletic events may occur at several locations simultaneously and on various days of the week. Services shall include, but not be limited to, providing a safe environment for persons attending or participating in school events, crowd management, traffic control, security of monies, security of personnel and public property and other law enforcement-related duties as requested by the MNPS Executive Director of School Security. Personnel requirements may range from one (1) to twenty-five (25) officers or more per location. The MNPS School Principal, the MNPS person in charge of the event, the MNPS Director of Athletics, or the MNPS Executive Director of School Security will determine personnel requirements. Individual schools and departments will be responsible for arranging security for events with the Contractor and must verify and approve all charges for services. Estimated need: 10 to 15 officers per week for 10 weeks during football season. Security needs shall vary for other athletic and non-athletic events not specified above. Patrol/Security of Facilities Vehicle patrol or fixed post security assignment to maintain security of personal and public property. Scope Detail (continued) Metropolitan Board of Public Education Meetings General security and order maintenance at public meetings of the Metropolitan Board of Public Education. Patrol and observation of parking areas. Respond to requests for assistance of Board Members, MNPS staff, or others to threatening or disorderly individuals. MNPS currently holds (2) two Board Meetings per month (typically 2nd and 4th Tuesday); meetings begin at 5:00 p.m.; Officer(s) shall report 15 minutes prior to meeting; meetings typically last 2-3 hours. Meeting dates and/or times may be moved due to need/holidays. Special meetings may be called, no schedule. The MNPS Executive Director of School Security will provide advance notice when possible. MNPS Executive Director of School Security may request two (2) officers or more when large crowds are expected or high profile issues are to be discussed.
