Procurement of Thomson Scattering Laser System for the Material Plasma Exposure Experiment (MPEX)
The Material-Plasma Exposure eXperiment (MPEX), a superconducting magnet, steady-state device, is being built at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), herein
referred to as "ORNL", to address the harsh conditions inside a fusion reactor. This device, as designed, will have the unique feature of being able to conduct
accelerated lifetime tests of plasma-facing components, including those that have experienced neutron damage.
The supplier shall provide:
- A high-energy Nd:YAG laser system, including:
- Laser head and housing
- Rack-mountable power supply (208V, 1-phase)
- Heat exchanger compatible with ORNL’s chilled water utilities
- Integration support with the ORNL-MPEX Diagnostic Laser Center
- All required technical documentation and factory test reports
- Packaging, delivery, installation, and onsite commissioning support
