Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. KCDC is seeking a supplier to provide up to (approximately) forty-two evening meals, seven days per week including major holidays. The supplier needs to have their own facility and equipment. b. Meals will be ordered on a weekly basis, via email or telephone, requesting only the number of meals needed as determined by KCDC. Orders will be made on Thursday or Friday for the following Monday - Sunday. Meal counts may vary weekly. c. Preferably, meals will be delivered each day, including holidays and weekends. However, delivery on the last working day before the weekend or holiday will be considered. 18. General Requirements a. KCDC requests a price for meals that are: 1. Delivered fresh at 4:00 p.m., to be served immediately upon arrival -- or -- 2. If Delivery is between 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. food should be in heat retaining containers. 3. Compliant with diabetic nutritional guidelines. b. Meals must be prepared and delivered by 4:00 p.m. c. If meals are prepared and delivered from an offsite location, complete meals, including bread and desert, are to be packaged in individual containers (one meal per container) that keep the food in separate compartments. Otherwise, regular dinner plates with the appropriate covers may be used. d. Supplier is not responsible for providing flatware, drinks or napkins. e. Supplier is responsible for providing typical condiments. f. Each meal requires an entrée (beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, et cetera) and two vegetables or one vegetable and one salad in addition to one roll, muffin or biscuit and a regular or diet dessert. Residents diagnosed as diabetic or placed on a weight loss diet by a physician will receive diet desserts. The preceding constitutes one meal. Serving sizes and method of preparation shall be as recommended for an adult by a nutrition program similar to that in a local hospital. (Nutritionally set guidelines for diabetic diets will be considered for all meals ordered and delivered.) g. Meals will be provided for residents and delivered every day, including holidays and weekends; with the exception of Christmas day. h. Meals may be delivered cold and re-heated on-site provided the winning supplier provides the necessary reheating unit(s) at no additional charge to KCDC.
