The Austin Bluffs Interchange at Union Boulevard Project is one of the signature projects being financed by the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority. The improvements include a grade separated interchange (Austin Bluffs Parkway to operate as free flow on a bridge over Union Boulevard) with ramps providing the turning movements between the two streets. The interchange is configured as a Single Point Urban Interchange which provides a single intersection on Union Boulevard below Austin Bluffs Parkway. Key elements of the construction include a bridge for Austin Bluffs Parkway going over Union Boulevard and Templeton Gap Floodway, ramp bridges over Templeton Gap Floodway, retaining walls, sound walls, reconstruction of Templeton Gap Floodway, roadway grading and pavement, utility relocations, traffic signals, and trail construction.
