* MNPS seeks to procure Architect/Engineering (A/E) services for needs analysis, space programming and design of a career center and dining space to Martin Luther King Jr. High School located at 613 17th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37203. The selected Architect/Engineering Consultants will become a responsible member of the MNPS professional team for programming, design and construction, helping to assure the project is completed within budget, on-schedule and compliant with project program, MNPS standards, academic accreditation requirements and applicable codes. A/E Consultant teams seeking to provide services should have current demonstrated specialized experience in programming, planning, designing and constructing of projects for this specialized building type. The A/E Agreement will be for existing conditions documentation, needs analysis, space programming, development of construction documents, construction administration, building commissioning, and operational start up. * The project consists of renovations at MLK Academic Magnet School to provide academic improvements, including the development of a new Career Center in a location to be determined through evaluation of existing spaces, and the renovation of the Internet Café into a dedicated senior dining venue. The Career Center will include, but is not limited to, office space, conference and meeting rooms, testing/teleconference rooms, equipment and clothing storage, and flexible areas for student services such as resume printing and headshots. The Internet Café renovation will include a new connection to the existing Media Center, new storage, reconfiguration of existing space to create a compliant egress path, and enhancements to create a welcoming dining space for seniors. * This project is funded through a fixed grant allocation, and all design solutions must be developed to remain within the established construction budget. The A/E team is expected to prioritize costeffective strategies, incorporate value engineering throughout the design process, and ensure that final construction documents support competitive bidding and on-budget delivery without compromising MNPS quality or performance standards. * The project will align with current MNPS planning requirements, meet ADA and life safety codes, and incorporate durable finishes, new casework, electrical services as needed, and updated MEP systems as required. The design work shall integrate with the existing school's design and aesthetic. The designer is to include low-voltage devices and pathways on their drawings and coordinate all requirements with MNPS Information Technology and Security. * MNPS envisions spaces that support career readiness, post-secondary readiness, academic engagement, and collaborative learning, fostering interaction between students, staff, and community partners. The renovated areas should be functional, adaptable, and designed to inspire student participation, with flexibility to accommodate evolving program needs over time.
