Specifications include, but are not limited to: This RFP is issued to contract with employer-led organizations to provide education, consulting, and technical assistance to businesses and employers on hiring and the employment retention of individuals with disabilities in their local communities. The employer-led organization will be within a community or a combination of communities with a total population of 20,000 or more according to the South Dakota Labor Market Information’s website using the most recent Census Bureau information. 3.1.1 Develop and maintain a steering committee of businesses in the community area. This committee will also include a representative from the Division of Rehabilitation Services and individuals with disabilities who represent a business/industry. 3.1.2 The scope of work will identify measurable goals in which will provide educational opportunities to employers in the community area regarding the employment of individuals with disabilities; create a greater awareness to employers in the community area on the benefits of hiring and retaining individuals with disabilities as employees; serve as a resource for employees and employers regarding employment opportunities and workplace accommodations; and conduct/promote events that provide awareness and education of employing individuals with disabilities. At a minimum, the following terms should be included: 3.1.2.1 The types and number of educational presentations to employers in the community area regarding the employment of individuals with disabilities, such as: disability etiquette and awareness, workplace accommodations, ADA information and resources, tax incentives available to employers who hire and retain employees with disabilities, etc. 3.1.2.2 Specify the types and partnerships with businesses and associations, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Society of Human Resource Management, Economic Development Corporations, Small Business Development Corporation, etc. 3.1.2.3 The types and number of on-site consultations or presentations to employers in creating a greater awareness to businesses in the community area on the benefits of hiring and retaining of individuals with disabilities. 3.1.2.4 The number and description of mentoring activities connecting businesses with youth with disabilities. 3.1.2.5 The frequency and types of information/resources being provided to businesses and the community through a website and other social media. 3.1.2.6 The type and frequency of activities in working or coordinating with the providers in the community being served.
