Specifications include, but are not limited to: THINNING SPECIFICATIONS•The desired treatment will include the thinning of ponderosa pine, cedar, and juniper up to 10-inch diameter atbreast height (DBH) to an average spacing of 25 feet between trees (trunks). To achieve the desired spacing and topromote forest health broken top, split top, and otherwise unhealthy trees will be targeted first.•Treatment of spruce will result in scattered groups of 5 to 15 trees with approximately 25 foot spacingbetween groups.•Stumps will be level cut flush to the ground. PILING SPECIFICATIONS•Piles to be burned will be between 6 and 8 feet in diameter, and between 5 and 7 feet in height.•Piles will not be constructed under the crown of any tree or on top of stumps.•Piles will be constructed away from powerlines/structures/other infrastructures.•Burning of piles will be conducted by the contractor as conditions allow and under SDWF burn permitguidelines:oMinimum of 2 inches of continuous snow cover.oAll materials shall be pulled into the center for 100% minimum consumption.oPiles will be monitored for a minimum of 3 days after the last smoke is visible.•It is recommended to avoid creating piles from February 1st through June 30th, due to forest health concerns.
