Specifications include, but are not limited to: This is a solicitation for a services contract to provide equine-assisted therapy to persons diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), with an emphasis on providing services to veterans. SCVRD shall not exercise any supervision or control over the contract service providers performing the services herein. Such contract service providers shall be accountable solely to the Contractor who, in turn is responsible to the SCVRD. The Contractor will provide: • Staff to manage the program: Instructors shall be at a minimum a Licensed Therapist, certification by PATH International (formerly NARHA), Eagala or other equine therapy certification preferred, but not required. • Bidder shall provide the résumé or curriculum vitae of each therapist proposed for the Program, including a list of all educational achievements and professional certifications • Coordination of housing and veterinary care for the horses: Contractor has sole responsibility for providing and caring for the horses • Suitable training site, equipment and supplies: Site shall be designed for equine-human interaction (indoor and outdoor), maintaining good repair of all equipment assuring all safety measures are followed. • Generate referrals to the program and arrange and schedule member participation in the program: Contractor is responsible for all marketing to solicit participants for the program. Contractor is also responsible for assessing each participant for appropriateness for equine-assisted therapy. • Instruction using an approved, outlined curriculum that includes an on-the-ground therapy model, with a classroom component, that provides strategies and techniques for participants with PTSD to increase their self-awareness, confidence, trust, and improve their communication and relationship skills through interspecies communication with horses. • Appropriately match horses with participants to maximize the benefits of the program for each participant.
