Specifications include, but are not limited to: Each Contractor shall supply Pediatric Nursing Services for care of medically fragile students primarily while being transported by bus. In most instances, a nurse will provide nurse-patient care at a one-to-one (1:1) nurse-patient ratio, or, if approved by the agency, at a one-to-two (1:2) nurse-patient ratio. At no time will the District ask a nurse to care for more than two (2) students at one (1) time. For the purpose of this contract, a “nurse” is defined as an individual currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Each nurse supplied shall meet competency standards of care in such pediatric nursing skills as tracheostomy care, ventilator care, oxygen monitoring, gastrostomy tube feeding, oral suctioning and/or any specialized procedure required by an assigned pediatric patient. . In addition, each nurse supplied shall have current Basic Life Support (BLS) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an accredited body and must provide proof of certification.
