Specifications include, but are not limited to: As indicated in the General Information section, the City of Charleston’s goals for the development of this site include 1) improving housing affordability, and 2) increasing the availability of affordable housing on Peninsula Charleston, and 3) use of the future Lowcountry Lowline as a transportation corridor, connecting residents to jobs (for more information, see Exhibit A: Map of future Lowcountry Lowline). To achieve these goals, the City is seeking a responsive, responsible, and creative development team for the redevelopment of the parcel of land off of King Street known as the future Lowcountry Lowline corridor in the Westside neighborhood of downtown Charleston, referred to as the “Lowcountry Lowline Affordable Housing site” (See Exhibit B: Site Location Map and Annotated Survey). This site and its surrounding area presents an ideal opportunity for the construction and management of affordable rental housing that provides spacious, attractive residential units – and a collection of off-site improvements that both support residential living and enhance neighborhood and Lowline connections.
