Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Areas requiring replacement shall be saw cut or slot cut to remove existing paving down to base layer; exposed edges shall be free from broken edges. 2. Existing Base, Stable: Compact existing base materials and apply primer tack coat to vertical edges of pavement cuts. 3. Existing Base, Unstable: a. If unsuitable base materials are encountered the Contractor shall notify the Berkeley County School District project manager. b. Written approval by the Berkeley County School District is required prior to any additional work for base replacement. c. Upon approval, excavate unstable base material, place new aggregate base, and compact to achieve a stable base. 4. Apply primer tack coat to vertical edges of pavement cuts. 5. Removed paving shall be replaced with a 4” full depth thickness of hot-mix AC applied in two (2) lifts to achieve 95% compaction.
