Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Owner shall engage a special inspection coordinator and/or Testing Agency per Chapter 17 of the 2012 International Building Code. Below represents the tasks required to be performed by the Testing Agency and shall be considered the project's Statement of Special Inspections: STATEMENT OF SPECIAL INSPECTIONS 1. The following represents the project’s Statement of Special Inspections per 2012 IBC; Chapter 17; Sections 1704.1.1 and 1705. a. 1704.1.2 Report Requirements i. Special Inspection Reports shall be emailed to the Contractor, Engineer, and Architect within one week of performing Tests and/or Inspections. ii. Non-conforming items shall be immediately brought to the attention of the contractor for correction. iii. If non-conforming items are not corrected, the items shall be brought to the attention of the building official and the Design Professional in Responsible Charge prior to completion of that portion of the work and prior to that work being covered. iv. All Inspection Reports shall be compiled by the Contractor and submitted to the Design Professional in Responsible Charge. v. At the Project's completion, the Special Inspection's Coordinator shall issue a final report documenting special inspections were performed per this Statement of Special Inspections and Deficiencies were corrected. b. 1704.2.5 – Inspection of Fabricators i. The structural steel fabricator shall submit detailed fabrication and quality control procedures that provide a basis for inspection control of the workmanship and the fabricator’s ability to conform to approved construction documents and referenced standards. In addition to obtaining the above QA documents, the Testing Agency shall perform in-plant testing one time during fabrication to review welds of columns to base and cap plates. 1. In lieu of obtaining testing documentation, the fabricator may submit current AISC certification. ii. Testing agency shall collect steel joist supplier's SJI Certification. iii. Testing Agency shall collect steel deck supplier's SDI Certification. iv. Testing Agency shall collect precast panel suppliers PCI Certifications. c. 1705.2 – Steel Construction i. Welding. 1. Inspect 25% of joist to joist girder and girder to column welds. 2. Visually observe floor and deck welds for conformance with approved shop drawings.
