Specifications include, but are not limited to: Approximately 25,000 lbs. of internal ballast below sole secured to frames with load binding straps • Approximately 25,000 lbs. of external ballast fastened through keel and keelson with ¾” silicon bronze bolts. Lead bedded to keel with roofing tar. • Backbone timbers are White Oak through fastened with ¾” silicon bronze bolts. Clinch rings used in place of hex nuts above sole level. • Frames are White Oak fastened with 1” locust treenails, silicon bronze 5/8” and ½” bolts below sole level. Frames fastened to keel timber with one ¾” bolt. These bolts are buried beneath keelson. They are diagonally opposite from bolt that can be seen on top of keelson. Every frame has one bolt through keel, frame and keelson – staggered from one side of centerline to the other. Keel and Keelson are made of the backbone described above. • Bilge stringer and clamps are white oak through fastened with silicon bronze bolts, clinch rings inside hull except below sole. Hex nuts countersunk in frames and covered with planking, lower clamp fastened with 5” silicon bronze lag screws.
