SCDNR is soliciting bids for understory/midstory woody vegetation removal on the Sumter National Forest, Enoree Ranger District- Indian Creek Quail Focal Area in Newberry County & Delta South WMA in Union County and removal of woody vegetation from an old pasture on the Hunting Creek DOT Mitigation property per the specifications herein. Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Woody vegetation shall be cut and removed with equipment that minimizes soil disturbance (i.e. skidder with mulching head, feller buncher, wheel loader with grapple arm, chippers, dump trucks etc.) creating a minimal amount of chips across the site. 2. Debris piles should be no greater than 10’ tall away from the base of standing trees. 3. The contractor shall provide all the equipment to accomplish the task. The units shall be capable of moving from one location to another under its own power. 4. The contractor shall provide a vehicle with trailer to move or transport all heavy equipment. 5. No debris shall be left in any ditches or in front of pipe culverts preventing proper drainage. 6. SCDNR and Quail Forever will monitor the work to ensure that adequate progress and production are being achieved. 7. Estimated start dates and days to complete to be provided with proposal by the contractor. 8. The contractor will avoid damaging mature trees or other specified areas. This includes but is not limited to skinning the bark, running over trees, or excessive digging in the root zones. 9. The contractor is responsible for furnishing all labor, materials, equipment (including safety equipment), tools, transportation, and supervision to perform the work required. 10. Machinery must be removed to a road or road shoulder to conduct refueling. All efforts must be made to eliminate any spills of fuel, oil, coolant, or any other fluids.
