Specifications include, but are not limited to: It is the intent of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism (SCPRT, Seller) to identify Buyers interested in submitting bids for a sale of timber at Goodale State. he purpose of this sale and harvest operation is to advance the restoration process of approximately 202.5 acres to the appropriate natural community conditions at Goodale State Park. This harvest is separated into three parts by harvest type. Harvest objectives are detailed further below: Fourth-Row Thinning (~40 acres) The purpose of the harvest in this designated area is to reduce stocking of planted pine to allocate resources to the highest quality trees in the stand. Reducing competition in this overstocked stand and preserving the highest-quality residual trees will improve stand vigor, reduce competition stress, and reduce the risk of wildfire/disease by removing excess ground and ladder fuels, and increasing tree spacing. Operator Select (~157 acres) This harvest area encompasses a large area of the park and is comprised of upland pine and pine-hardwood forest. Upland Pine: The purpose of the harvest in this designated area is to remove overstocked loblolly and slash pine to promote a longleaf-dominant overstory. Pine-Hardwood: This classification encompasses oak/pine and oak/hickory forest community types. The purpose of the harvest in this designated area is to remove overstocked and poorly formed trees, and to promote the health and vigor of desirable loblolly and longleaf pine, and hard and soft mast producing hardwood species such as dogwood, hickory, oak, and holly. Clearcut (~5.5 acres) The purpose of the harvest in this designated area is to remove all trees in preparation for the construction of a new park office.
