The City of Greenville is requesting bids from qualified contractors to repair the entrance gateway at Springwood Cemetery. The stone archway feature of the cemetery entrance was recently damaged and is in need of repair as to make safe for use. Springwood Cemetery is located at 410 N Main Street, Greenville, SC 29601. The specific project area is the cemetery’s stone archway entrance feature off of N Main Street, located at the corner of N Main Street and Elford Street. This project includes, but not limited to, selective disassembly and demolition of the existing stone arch and columns as necessary, construction of a new stone archway, and any necessary repairs and installation of the iron gate system (reference attached Image “Gateway Measurements”). It is expected the contractor will develop necessary shop drawings and/or architectural design plans for review by the City that will accurately illustrate the replacement archway feature. It is the City’s desire to reuse as much of the existing stones and blocks as possible. All materials, both new and existing, must be approved by the owner before installation. Any new stones and blocks will match existing. The contractor will provide a stamped structural analysis of the new archway that confirms load bearing requirements. Upon completion of the repair and replacement, the stone archway and column system should be cleaned and treated with a sealant approved by both the stone vendor and City. The project will be administered and managed by the City of Greenville. The contractor chosen to complete the work will be responsible for providing all materials and labor needed to complete the project as designed and intended. It is the contractor’s responsibility to visit the site to understand the scope of work. The contractor shall ensure this project maintains compliance with all Americans with Disabilities (ADA) regulations, applicable building codes, SCDHEC requirements, and should notify the Project Manager immediately should there be any questions or concerns.
