Specifications include, but are not limited to: One (1) guard shall be provided for 50 hours per week, more or less, to work primarily at the York County Family Court during the following hours: Monday through Friday from approximately 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. One (1) guard shall be provided for 50 hours per week, more or less, to work primarily at the York County Historic Courthouse during the following hours: Monday through Friday from approximately 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Coverage will not be needed at either location on any holidays recognized by York County, which usually include the following: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. At the beginning of each shift, the guard shall check in at the Sheriff’s Office front desk to determine which Sheriff’s Deputy will be the Person in Charge (PIC) for the duration of the shift. Guard Duties include, but are not limited to: A. Man screening area at main entrance of each Facility. Properly screen the public for weapons, contraband, etc. prior to entry into the Facilities. B. Report matters of concern to assigned County Officer PIC. Respond appropriately within the authorities granted by law, Sheriff’s Office policy, County policy, and company directives. C. Engage with suspicious persons to ascertain their business on Facility property. D. Monitor activity and movement in county buildings and throughout the Facilities. E. Assist staff in the event of an emergency, including helping with vacating and securing the Facilities when an evacuation of either building is required. F. Report any unusual activity to the assigned County Officer PIC. G. Immediately report any illegal activity to the assigned County Officer PIC, who will determine appropriate action.
