The Clemson University’s Advanced Materials Research Laboratory located in Anderson, SC is seeking bids for a Particle Size and Zeta Potential Analyzer for measurement of particle size and size distributions, zeta potential and molecular weight. All equipment must be new. This is a one-time purchase. Alternate equipment bids are allowed, but the proposed equipment must meet or exceed the specifications of the preferred equipment (basis of specifications). Comparable products of other manufacturers will be considered only if proof of comparability is contained in your bid proposal. It is the responsibility of the bidders to furnish such specifications, catalog pages and brochures with your bid. This information must also provide an adequate basis for determining the quality and functional capabilities of the product offered. Comparable products must also be of equal or greater specification, quality & value than the preferred brand list in this bid. Failure to provide proof of comparability will be considered valid justification for rejection of bid and could deem your proposal as non-responsive. Specifications: (Basis of specification: Make: Malvern Panalytical Zetasizer Pro Blue Model: ACA5200 ) Particle size and zeta potential analyzer: • Instrument must be capable of measuring particle size within the range 0.3 nanometers to 10 micrometers using dynamic light scattering • Instrument must be capable of performing the measurement at multiple angles, particularly low angle forward scatter measurements (13 to 15 degrees) and backscatter measurements (173 to 175 degrees) • Instrument must be capable of operation up to 80 o C • Minimum sample volume required for measurements must be less than 100 microliters • Minimum concentration in backscatter mode: 0.1 mg/mL lysozyme • Instrument must be capable of performing measurements in solutions ranging from pH 1 to 14 and ionic strengths up to 4 M NaNO3 or NaCl with minimal harm to the sample cells. “Dip” style electrodes for zeta potential measurements are acceptable if necessary for the previously stated solution conditions. However, the instrument must be capable of both particle size and zeta potential measurements must be capable using a disposable cell. • Zeta potential measurements must utilize Electrophoretic Light Scattering (ELS) and Phase Analysis Light Scattering (PALS). Additional measurement approaches are desirable but not necessary. • Minimum 1-year warranty. o After expiration of your standard warranty, Clemson University may be interested in purchasing additional service coverage. Please enter your pricing for an additional two (2) years of service coverage in the space provided in the online bid event and detail the specifics of the coverage in your written proposal. This coverage, if added to this project, shall begin after the expiration of the included warranty. This pricing of this additional service coverage will not be used in the evaluation of cost. Clemson University reserves the right to add this option to the resulting contract at the time of award. Installation Specifications: • Delivery, unpacking and installation on site of all equipment must be done by supplier. • On-site training on the operation of the instruments, data acquisition, and data processing. • Pricing for installation and training shall be a total cost, and must include all travel expenses, per diem, meals, rentals, lodging, etc.
