The purpose of the Oakland Park Master Plan & Professional Services project is to develop a vision for 52 acres of publicly owned property at 259 Adams Mill Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680. Known as Oakland Plantation since the 1820’s, and more recently the Hollingsworth YMCA Outdoor Center, the property was purchased by the Upstate Preservation Trust in 2023 and transferred to the County of Greenville, South Carolina for park development and preservation. The land acquisition was funded by the SC Conservation Bank and the Greenville County Natural & Historic Land Trust. Development of the park will be guided by the master plan and construction drawings proposed in this scope of work. Greenville County Parks, Recreation & Tourism maintains the property and is responsible for master planning and development of county owned and operated parks and facilities. Upstate Preservation Trust entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the County of Greenville for historic preservation and rehabilitation of the 4-acre parcel with homestead and ten outbuildings. Greenville County Rec will solicit public participation, site analysis, park design, and construction documents for eventual implementation of the park property.
