4.0 Specifications for Trail Repair & Resurfacing.4.1In the performance of this work, areas marked to be repaired shall be dug out and repaired priorto that resurfacing. The depth of removal shall be adequate to provide a stable support for the asphalt pavement add a minimum 4-inch-thick compacted layer of 1 ½ inch minus crushed rock. (Areas have been identified and marked.)4.2All waste materials generated shall be removed from the property and properly disposed of by the Contractor. This includes old asphalt, concrete and cleaning equipment.4.3The route and repairs of the trail are marked out in the field and are shown as well on the attached layout drawing. Slight bank stabilization may occur in areas of cuts and fills to prevent erosion. The contractor shall attempt to preserve the natural vegetation along the trail wherever possible and keep the construction disturbance to a minimum.4.4Liquid asphalt for the tack coat shall be applied prior to resurfacing by SCDOT materialspecifications.4.5The trail surface shall be a minimum 2-inch-thick layer of asphalt paving and shall be aminimum of 8 feet wide throughout the length of the trail.4.6Bring surface level even with existing bridge abutments or back of curb where applicable.4.7Minor grading will be required adjacent to trail system – creating swells and positive drainage along and away from trail.4.8Finish surface should be smooth and free of ridges, dips or protrusions.4.9Finished edges should be feathered with smooth radiuses, not to extend past rock sub grade.
