The Commission for the Blind (SCCB) is seeking to establish contracted pricing for the fabrication of interior and exterior signage for designated agency offices located throughout the state of South Carolina. Neither installation services for the signage nor disposal services for currently existing signage will be included in the contract. Fabrication specifications for all signage • Comply with all applicable provisions 2010 Standards for State and Local Government Facilities: Title II. The 2010 Standards are Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) federal regulations. https://www.ada.gov/law-and-regs/design-standards/2010-stds/#703-signs • Color Contrast: Characters and symbols must contrast with their background— either light characters on a dark background or dark characters on a light background. • Symbols of Accessibility: Accessible facilities required to be identified, must use the international symbol of accessibility. Use manufacturer’s standard pictograms wherever applicable. • Include Braille Grade II below all text. • Interior signage cannot be installed using screws or using any other material that would create a hole(s) in a wall. The installation method for interior signage must be to use an adhesive material to be applied to the back side of the signage for mounting. • Exterior signage must be weather resistant. • There will be between one to three lines of text and the accompanying braille for most signs. Each line of text must be on a separate, removable insert on the mounted sign. Most inserts expected to be 2” or 4” in height. • Sign edges must be rounded or beveled and without a frame. • See sign examples at end of document.
