Specifications include, but are not limited to: ON SHIFT WEEKDAYS AT 5:00 PM Check in at State Fire Facilities Mangers office prior to the start of the 5:00 PM shift and pick up the following: Security Bag State Owned Security Vehicle keys Master Keys to facility Cell Phone (803-530-6572) must be turned “ON” and on person at all times. Daily “Security Standing Orders” if applicable The mileage log must be filled out at the beginning of each shift (no exceptions) Close the “In” gate roadway barrier at 6:00 PM but do not lock. Once gate is closed, this is when the login entry sheet begins. Stop all vehicles and check all individuals coming on-site unless identified in SSO. When security building is not occupied, the “In” gate shall be locked. Once employees with State ID, instructors or registered students with dorm keys are identified; have them proceed without logging onto log entry sheet. Some classes may be provided window passes and are not required to be logged into the site. If no State issued ID etc., check ID (driver’s license) and log on entry sheet (this includes staff). If they have no ID, deny access to site. Once a shift, all interiors of each building are checked while on foot patrol and locked if unlocked unless specific instructions are identified in the SSO. When the Security Officer leaves the security building to make rounds, they will ensure the “IN” gate is locked and the “OUT” gate is closed but not locked so unauthorized persons cannot come in behind them, but personnel can still leave the facility. A posted sign on the front gate will include the contact (cellphone) number to the Security Officer. Check and lock all exterior doors of all up-front buildings. As soon as possible and during the first-round check and lock all rear building’s exterior doors except the dorm and check the dorm office door. The “Out” gate roadway barrier should be closed but not locked by 7:00 PM. Persons on site do not have to sign out when leaving. Make sure “Out” gate remains closed but not locked when guard building is not occupied. Open “In” gate at main entrance at 5:00 AM and remain at guard building until end of shift. Food delivery trucks may arrive early in the morning, log in the vehicle and have them proceed to cafeteria. Once gates are open, no longer required to use entry log in sheet unless identified in SSO. Shift ends at 7:30 AM each weekday. Park the security vehicle in the designated parking area. Complete all logs and put the logs, reports, security keys, phone, and any other items such as dorm check-in forms or dorm key packages in the security bag and return to the designated drop off and pick up point identified by State Fire Management. The vehicle mileage log must be filled out at the end of each shift (no exceptions). ON SHIFT WEEKENDS: Report into the guard building and relieve the off going Officer. Have turnover from the off going officer, review the weekend “Security Standing Orders” (SSO). Remain at the guard building and open gates if classes are scheduled (see SSO). Be prepared to answer questions on class location, etc. If gates are open, not required to log in all persons entering. If no classes or scheduled activities, close “In” gate and close “Out” gate barrier. If leaving guard shack for rounds, lock “In” gate, keep out gate closed by not locked and make rounds approximately every hour. Once a shift, all building interiors are checked while on foot patrol and locked if unlocked unless specific instructions are identified in the SSO. If no classes/scheduled activities are on the training grounds, the access gate (past pond) to the rear of campus should be closed (not locked) and only opened by Security Officer doing his/her rounds. ROUNDS/INTERACTIONS: All exterior doors shall be kept locked at all times, except for during class use. While on rounds, be aware and alert for leaking fluids, smoke, or any unusual odors/sounds or activities. Shut off any lights or coffee pots left unattended inside the buildings. Do not shut off any computers or other equipment. Report any unusual condition or activity to the on-call State Fire Manager and your Security Management. Do not unlock an office or building for an employee except if it is noted on the daily “Security Orders” to do so. If the person or group is not listed on the SSO, contact the on-call manager first for approval. Record all information on the entry log sheet and make sure to list the license tag number and state. Persons on site must have business on site; either they are a student, instructor, or employee.
