Specifications include, but are not limited to: New Nexton Middle School Work includes, but is not limited to, constructing a new, two-story, approximately 170,000 square feet, 1400-seat middle school with 70 classrooms and labs. The core spaces (cafeteria etc.) are sized for a 1700-seat student capacity. The property is located in the Nexton Community (designs will address the Nexton Review Committee concerns) near the intersection of Nexton Parkway and Midtown Avenue. It sits on a 35-acre site facing the Nexton Parkway. The facility will be a concrete masonry and sloped metal joist structure veneered with brick and metal siding. The exterior doors and windows are aluminum storefronts and Aluminum curtain wall. The roof system is a standing seam metal system, with an attic platform to house a four-pipe HVAC equipment system that will be used with make-up air systems providing outside air. The interior finishes will include but are not limited to Terrazzo corridors, ceramic tile restrooms, LVT classroom, acoustical ceilings, paint, casework, marker/tack boards, and technology infrastructure (access controls). All electrical, mechanical, and plumbing services, along with life safety systems, technology cabling, and cable trays will be included in the contract. The Sitework Package is also part of this contract and consists of site utilities, drives, parking for 350 vehicles, athletic fields/ playgrounds, sidewalks, curb & gutter, fencing, grassing, irrigation, and landscaping. BCSD will endeavor to purchase approximately 1.5 acres adjacent to the campus. This will allow approximately 100 parking and driveway access for car or bus loops. The property is in Hanahan SC at 5815 Murray Drive, Hanahan SC 29410. There are currently three buildings on the campus, of which the oldest two will be demolished and replaced with new classrooms, a gymnasium, and an administration area.
