The City of North Charleston is seeking proposals from qualified consulting firms to develop a comprehensive Safety Action Plan and corresponding implementation grant application. The Plan will analyze traffic safety risks, prioritize cost-effective safety countermeasures, and position the high-priority projects for implementation funding. The implementation grant application will combine one or more high-priority projects to request funding from FHWA’s Safe Streets & Roads for All (SS4A) program or another similar federal funding program. The Action Plan must meet the FHWA’s “Components of an Action Plan”, as identified on their website. The selected consultant will ensure the Plan aligns with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Roadway Safety Strategy and the federal goal of zero roadway deaths using a Safe Systems Approach.
