Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City seeks to commission an artist to create an outdoor mural to be placed in a city alleyway that connects the upcoming interactive park and parking lot to State Street. The proposed project consists of painting a mural on two building walls that border the alleyway. The mural area is approximately 12 feet tall x 60 feet long on each wall. With the installation of the mural the alleyway will become inviting, engaging, and welcoming. The completed artwork will become the property of the City of West Columbia. Considerations for the design and theme of the work should take the following into consideration: • Designed with light scaping in mind (light scaping cost not incurred by the artist) • Appropriate use for public space • Mural art must not contain people • Requires minimum maintenance, with the appropriate consideration to the area’s seasonal climate • Surface wall prep will take place prior to artist painting the mural (cost is not incurred by the artist)
