Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide all necessary labor, materials and equipment to dry dock or haul on railway the R/V Palmetto, 110' OAL x 26' Beam x 7' Draft steel hull vessel. Properly shore and brace, without list, while in dock. Pressure wash with 3500 PSI entire underwater hull to remove marine growth, dirt, slime, and salt contaminates and inspect zincs, rudders and wheels, report findings. Remove sea-chest grate and plug intake, after paint, unplug and replace grate. All transducers, sensors, and discharge ports to be covered properly while out of the water. Remove all diesel fuel and store if able (~8,000 gals onboard), prior to removing vessel from the water if desired by vendor. The diesel fuel is not required to be stored on site, however the contractor will be responsible for refueling the vessel once the job is completed, with the equivalent that was removed. Gas Free vessel and clean bilges as required. 2. The keel coolers system is to be drained of all coolant and properly disposed of by yard/contractor. Drop keel cooler, cleaning of the keel coolers includes the removal of all marine growth/scale using industry standard methods of removal, pressure test for any leaks in the keel cooling system and accomplish hull preservation in keel cooler recesses. All zincs on coolers to be replaced. Replace keel coolers when hull is prepped and painted. The contractor is to add new Volvo VCS Ready Mix Coolant to the keel cooling system and check for any leaks in the cooling system before departure from the yard. Volvo VCS Ready Mix Coolant will be provided by SCDNR, MRD. 3. Remove all zincs (grid cooler zincs). SCDNR, MRD estimates a quantity of 75 ZHC-23 zincs for installation to account for 70 on the hull, 1 in the sea chest and 4 in the engine room. Install S/S(stainless steel) weld studs as needed on the hull and rudders for the installation of new zincs. Use S/S for securements. Only defective or missing weld studs should be replaced. Replace with ALL NEW zincs after hull paint. 4. Shafts and wheels to be removed and inspected. Wheels to be cleaned, balanced, tuned, including a propeller scan and brought back as close as possible to the origianl configuration. Replace Duramax DryMax shaft seal ring and garter spring on both shafts. Replace cutlass bearings. DryMax seal ring, garter springs and cutlass bearings to be provided by SCDNR, MRD. 5. Ultra sound hull for thickness at 30 locations as directed by SCDNR, MRD Representative and present written report. Any problem areas in the steel plating of the vessel will be addressed/repaired as an "Add-On!" 6. Entire vessel to be blasted to bare metal above and below the waterline to remove dirt, salt, contaminates and old paint. NOT to include the pilot house(mast rigging), and the lab side walls or any/all of the overhead features around the lab portion of the vessel. The entire 01 deck will be blasted EXCLUDING inside/under the salt ice machine box on the port side, underneath all (3) of the HVAC Compressors, and the wing steering station on the starboard side. The Main deck will be blasted to bare metal starting aft of the lab, including all interior sides of the bulwarks. Prior to blasting, Contractor will wrap and protect ships equipment and the ships representative will confirm all areas of blasting prior to work. Vessel is then to be painted with appropriate coats of primer and topcoat preferably using Sherwin Williams paint for above and below the waterline. Include a new non-skid surface on main deck and upper O1 deck. Use of an alternative two-part epoxy paint system may be acceptable but must be cleared with ship’s representative. Both of the ships rub rails are to be removed prior to any preservation work. The existing starboard rub rail, hardware, and S/S flat bar, are to be reused and reinstalled after painting is complete. Replace any broken studs or fouled hardware where necessary. 7. Remove and install new port side rub rail after painting is completed. Replace any broken studs or fouled hardware where necessary. 8. Main AFT Fuel Tanks (x2) to be opened, fuel free and cleaned for inspection. Report any findings. All fuel hatch covers and gaskets to be replaced after job is completed. 9. A-frame blasted to bare metal and proper primer and topcoat paints applied. A-frame hydraulic rams to be removed and new Peninsular rams installed, with all new hydraulic hoses and fittings as needed. New Peninsular hydraulic rams to be provided by SCDNR personnel. The A-frame is to be REMOVED from the main deck for preservation and inspection of the boom heel pins. Report the conditions of the boom heel pins to ships representative upon inspection. The work around the A-frame includes the A-Frame "rests," on both port and starboard side. New hydraulic hose fittings are to be made with steel, NOT S/S and connections to be wrapped using denso tape after testing for any leaks. New hydraulic hoses are to be covered with a nylon protection sleeve upon installation. The A-frame's control valve is to be re-used. New grease/zerk fittings for the base of the A-frame are to be replaced with new fittings and appropriatley greased when the A-frame is reinstalled on the deck. Replace A-Frame light mounting brackets. Ships crew will remove A-frame lights once removed from deck and when appropriate the ships cew will install/mount (2) new A-frame lights before installation of A-frame back on deck. Consult with ships representative regarding new mounting brackets. 10. Replace engine room escape hatch cover (24"x 24") and trunk, galley escape hatch cover(24"x 24") and trunk (located on the bow). Rebuild and paint watertight lab door, adding new grease/zerk fittings where needed. 11. Remove and replace the wing steering station’s hydraulic steering hoses, valves, and necessary fittings. Make connections under the wing station easier to access. Control Valve and Selector Valves are to be reused in the wing station. The contractors will work together with the Captain of the vessel to approve the work required in this repair. Test steering system when work is completed and inspect for any leaks following repair. 12. Replace ships shore power cord and junction box, located on the 01 deck, portside aft of the exhaust stacks. 80’+/- of 2/4 Type W 600V/2000V Carol Super VU-TRON Cable to match the existing ships power cord and a new Hubble or Leviton connection port to match existing connection port with correct prong arrangement. 100A 3Phase 208Volt System onboard.
