Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) seeks proposals from professional artists or artisans with proven skills in the designing and the construction of academic mace or medallions for higher education. The Mace will be utilized in official academic ceremonies including, but not limited to, Commencements and Convocations. Along with the Mace, USCB is seeking design and production of a Mace Stand, along with a display case. The Mace should conceptualize the history of the university and high honor of directing & shepherding the university and its students. USCB welcomes the creative process and encourages creativity in the interpretation of this request. Minimum Requirements: The Mace must include: 1. The USCB Official Seal 2. The USC Official Seal 3. Important USCB dates: 1795, 1801, 1959, 2004 4. Four Columns (representing the columns on the buildings of each campus) 5. USCB logo (or some aspect) 6. Height can vary from 35’ to 60’. USCB Desired Requests 1. Construction and design include a combination of materials: Wood, Metal, and Glass 2. Weight of Mace is under twenty (20) pounds.
