SANDAG performs transportation planning activities including the development of the long-range Regional Plan (RP) and Comprehensive Multimodal Corridor Plans (CMCP). SANDAG also monitors highway system performance, transit ridership, freight travel patterns, emerging transportation modes and travel behavior to assist in transportation model calibration, multimodal planning and coordination activities, and the publication of the State of the Commute report and other data dissemination products and services.
Development of these products requires the collection, acquisition and procurement of a wide range of transportation data including travel behavior surveys, transit boarding information, origin-destination data, and transportation performance data from publicly available sources.
