Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Block Island Housing Board (BIHB) is seeking a Rhode Island General Contractor to oversee construction of a five (5) house subdivision on Block Island to be known as “Cherry Hill Lane.” BIHB is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer board, tasked by the Town with facilitating affordable housing to benefit the Block Island community. The current project entails constructing three (3) 3-bedroom and two (2) bedroom homes which will be sold at below market value to income qualified island residents. The five proposed houses are of two designs. Houses 1 and 2 are one-story two-bedroom ranch style homes, to be build either slab-on-grade or on full basements depending on budget. Houses 3, 4, and 5 are Cape-style 1-1/2 story 3-bedroom homes to be built on full foundations. The houses have been designed for efficient and economical construction, combined with good quality, low maintenance, and energy efficiency.
